Academy Learner Terms

Version 2026-10-12 · Last updated: October 12, 2026

Version 2026-10-12. Effective October 12, 2026.

These Academy Learner Terms (the "Learner Terms") are an agreement between you and GoRefer.io LLC ("GoRefer," "we," "us" or "our"). They cover your learner account and your use of the academy, where tax firms sell courses and learners take them. The academy runs at gorefer.academy, at addresses ending in .gorefer.academy and on the custom domains firms connect to their academy.

By creating an account, you accept these Learner Terms and confirm that you are 18 or older. If you do not accept them, do not create an account. Tax firms that sell courses on the academy are covered by the GoRefer Terms of Service, not by these Learner Terms.

1. Who Does What

The firm is the seller. Each course is made, priced and sold by the firm whose name is on its page ("the firm"). When you buy, you buy from that firm. The firm sets the price and the refund policy, and it is responsible for what its course says and teaches.

GoRefer is the platform. We run the academy software for the firm: the store pages, accounts, payments through Stripe, the course player, certificates and email. We are not the seller of the firm's courses, and we do not write them.

2. Your Account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13, and we delete one if we learn of it.
  • Give accurate information, including the name you want on your certificates, and keep it up to date.
  • One account is for one person. Keep your password secret, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One learner account works with every firm on the academy. A firm can see your name, email address, purchases and progress in its own courses, as the learner privacy notice explains.

3. What a Purchase Gives You

When you buy a course, a bundle or a subscription, you get a licence to access and watch that course online in the firm's academy, for your own learning. It is not a copy to download or keep, and you do not own the course or its content. The firm or its licensors keep all rights in it.

Access can end if the firm stops offering the course or its academy, or if the firm's academy plan with GoRefer ends or is closed. See the refund policy on the firm's pages for what the firm does in that case. Access also ends if you delete your account or if we close it under section 9.

Certificates you have earned stay available to you in your account.

A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it, as the page you subscribe on tells you before you pay. You can cancel any time from your library, under Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

4. Payments and Refunds

You pay the firm, through Stripe, on the firm's own Stripe account. Your card statement shows a charge from the firm. GoRefer does not store your card details; Stripe does.

The firm decides its refund policy, and it must show it on its pages. Read it before you buy. To ask for a refund, contact the firm using the contact details on its pages. GoRefer is not the seller and does not decide refunds for the firm.

5. Using the Academy Properly

You agree not to:

  • Share your account, your password or your access to a course with anyone else
  • Copy, download, record, screen-capture, resell, publish or share course videos, files, quizzes or other content, except what the course itself lets you download
  • Get around or break any limit, protection or payment control in the academy
  • Use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the academy
  • Take a quiz or an assessment for someone else, or have someone take it for you
  • Share or post a certificate that is not yours, or change one
  • Break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or send harmful code
  • Interfere with the academy or try to reach another person's account or data

If you break these rules, we or the firm may end your access to a course or close your account.

6. Certificates

A certificate shows that you completed a course. It is a certificate of completion. It is not a license or a credential, and it does not show approval by the IRS, NASBA, CTEC, AFSP or any state board or other agency, unless a sponsor number is printed on it.

Anyone with your certificate number can check it on its verify page. A firm can revoke or replace a certificate it issued, and the verify page then shows that. If you rely on a course for continuing education credit or for any other requirement, ask the firm for the details, and check with the body that sets the requirement.

7. Course Content

Firms write and upload their own courses. We do not review every course, and we do not check what a firm says about it. The firm is responsible for its course, its claims and its prices. A course is education. It is not tax, legal or financial advice for your situation.

If you think a course breaks the law, infringes someone's copyright, or is misleading, use the "Report this course" link on its page, or email legal@gorefer.io with the course's web address. The Copyright & DMCA Policy explains how we handle copyright notices. We may hide a course, stop its sales or suspend a firm's storefront.

8. Your Information

The learner privacy notice, which is part of GoRefer's Privacy Policy, explains what we collect about you, who receives it and how long we keep it.

You can download your data and delete your account yourself, from the account menu in your library. You can also write to legal@gorefer.io.

9. Ending Your Account

You can delete your account at any time. Deleting it cancels your subscriptions at the end of the period you paid for, and ends your access to your courses. A certificate you earned stays verifiable by its number, without your name.

We may suspend or close your account, or a firm may end your access to its courses, if you break these Learner Terms, if you use the academy in a way that harms others or the academy, if you do not pay, or if the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you why.

10. Disclaimers

THE ACADEMY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the fullest extent the law allows, GoRefer disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the academy will be uninterrupted or error-free.

GoRefer does not make, check or guarantee any firm's course, its accuracy, its results, or any approval, credit or credential a firm says it carries. That is the firm's responsibility.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, GOREFER IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, including lost profits, lost income or lost opportunities, that arise from your use of the academy.

Our total liability for all claims that arise from the academy is limited to the amount you paid for the course the claim is about, in the twelve (12) months before the claim.

Nothing in these Learner Terms limits any liability, or takes away any right, that the law does not allow to be limited or taken away.

12. Governing Law and Where Disputes Are Heard

These Learner Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes between you and GoRefer about them or about the academy are heard in the state or federal courts serving Collin County, Texas, unless the law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

Your purchase is with the firm. A dispute about a course, a price or a refund is first a matter between you and the firm.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Learner Terms. We will post the new version here with its date. For a material change, we will tell you by email or in the academy before it takes effect, and we may ask you to accept the new version. If you do not agree to a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect.
